Review: Runaways, Vol. 1: Pride and Joy

Runaways, Vol. 1: Pride and Joy
Runaways, Vol. 1: Pride and Joy by Brian K. Vaughan
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This certainly wasn’t a “blow my socks off” type of book, but it provides an interesting storyline that is actually rather well written. I can’t say that I can recall anyone ever taking the approach of the children of a group of super villains ever finding out and cutting out on their own before, so this is a semi-original take on an idea for an origin story. The writing was a bit immature, but when you consider that the target audience for this series is likely the tween/teen readership then the writing might seem a bit more intentionally scaled back to the target audience. The artwork and writing were nicely clean in style without much in the way of artistic flourishes.
