Review: New X-Men, Vol. 3: New Worlds

New X-Men, Vol. 3: New Worlds
New X-Men, Vol. 3: New Worlds by Grant Morrison
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I am normally a big fan of X-Men stories, but this volume seemed a bit disjointed from where I remember the prior volume stopping. The writers seemed to go out of their way to turn this into more of a soap opera than a super hero book, and that made following the primary story thread rather difficult. Frankly, the primary underlying story thread was murky at the best of times and only loosely tied things together. When I finally got to the end of the volume it felt like it didn’t even belong to the story we had been following, and what was clearly meant as a high climax point seemed more of an afterthought since it never seemed to have a real connection to the underlying plot. I am really hoping that the writers don’t make the same mistake with the next volume.
