October 2007

I hate to do it, but practicality dictates that I give up online gaming. Perhaps not forever, but at this point in time I just don’t seem to have the time for it. And right on the even of the new graphics engine debut for EVE Online <whimper>. The babies aren’t here yet, but I find that increasingly homework is consuming my time. Perhaps in a few months, once I settle into the routine of school and children I will resume gaming online. Until then I will comfort myself with pulling out old games that have been gathering dust over the last 20+ months that I have been actively gaming online.

In my reading I learned that it is not uncommon for expectant fathers to have extremely vivid dreams as the delivery date approaches. I have always enjoyed vivid dreams so I was rather looking forward to these dreams, but I am discovering that the reality is different from the expectations.

Here is the dream I had this morning…

The setting was an open city park, picnic tables, a barn type structure. It felt like a summer camp type of setting, but in the heart of a city. Still, it feels like the country…

I am sitting at a long picnic style table with five or six youths, probably 10-12 years old. They are laughing and joking while working on some sort of craft project. The day is sunny with a few scattered clouds high overhead. (more…)

Who knew that names could be so difficult to decide upon? I have been looking over possible middle names for months, and until recently hadn’t really been able to find anything for Tiernan that I really liked.  Over the last couple of weeks that finally changed and I found a few selections that I liked. I put it up for a vote by a few select friends and family members and Shae appears to be the most popular selection. So, without further ado, here are the names we have selected along with their meanings.

Caulla Anora Mae:

  • Caulla: prophet
  • Anora: peaceful
  • Mae: variation on Maia, the Greek goddess of spring

Tiernan Shae:

  • Tiernan: regal or “My Lord”
  • Shae: hawklike

The previous Baby Names post has also been updated with this additional information

In some ways it is really hard to believe that so much time has passed so quickly.  Just the other day Sarah and I were sitting down after a game session talking about this and that…now here we are, a bit over a year later and the twins are about to make their debut. So much has happened this year…so very much…but the journey has certainly been worth every minute.
